Our early careers opportunities help you explore financial services, build practical skills and find the path that fits your interests. Whether you’re gaining an insight into our business, building practical experience through an internship or looking for a full-time graduate role, there are several ways to start your career with Macquarie.

Graduate Programme

Start your career with structured training, business-specific development and real responsibility from day one. Build skills, expand your network and accelerate your professional growth with ongoing support. ​

Programme dates: Starts in July 2027 and runs for 12 months​

Location: London

Eligibility: Final-year undergraduate and master's students graduating in 2027 ​

Applications: 1 September – 30 October 2026​

Insights Programme

An excellent introduction to financial services through workshops, networking, work shadowing and business insights. Eligible participants may be considered for accelerated access to future internship opportunities.

Programme dates: April 2027

Location: London

Eligibility: Students graduating in 2029

Applications: 12 October - 30 November 2026
 

Summer Internship

Gain hands-on experience, develop your skills through professional training, and grow your network while working alongside industry professionals. High-performing summer interns may be considered for our Graduate Programme, giving you a clear path from internship experience to a full-time career at Macquarie.

Programme dates: June -August 2027​

Location: London

Eligibility: Penultimate-year students graduating in 2028 and eligible final-year students pursuing further study​

Applications: 1 September - 30 October 2026​

Offcycle Internships

Build practical experience through three- to six-month internships across key business areas. Opportunities are available throughout the year in selected European locations.

Location: Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Madrid and Paris

Programme dates: three to six months, year-round ​

Eligibility: Final-year students, gap-year students and recent graduates​

Commodities and Global Markets

Commodities and Global Markets (CGM) is one of Macquarie’s core businesses, providing capital and financing, risk management, market access, physical execution and logistics solutions across commodities, financial markets and asset finance. You'll learn how the business helps clients manage risk, unlock capital and optimise outcomes across a range of opportunities, from complex commodity markets to next-generation AI infrastructure.

Depending on your individual role, you could be:

  • building knowledge of financial markets, commodities markets and trading activity  

  • analysing data, market trends and quantitative strategies to support investment, trading and business decisions

  • developing quantitative models, tools and insights to help solve complex business challenges

  • supporting risk management, regulatory reporting, controls and remediation activities 

  • analysing capital, funding and liquidity information to support financial and risk management activities 

  • helping develop client solutions by translating complex market, product and investment concepts into clear insights and recommendations

May suit students studying: Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance or other quantitative STEM subjects.

Internal Audit

Internal Audit provides independent assurance and risk insights that support Macquarie's success. As Macquarie's third line of defence, we provide independent, objective assessments of risk management, governance and control effectiveness across all parts of Macquarie. We help Macquarie stay resilient by identifying, understanding and responding to risk in a rapidly evolving environment.

Depending on your individual role, you could be:

  • building an understanding of Macquarie's businesses, risk profile and control environment by supporting the audit lifecycle 

  • engaging with stakeholders across business and support teams to understand processes, challenge control design and develop commercial insight

  • executing audit testing by analysing evidence, reviewing data and assessing whether controls are operating effectively

  • evaluating risks, identifying themes and helping develop clear, well-supported conclusions and recommendations

  • supporting strong governance, risk management and business outcomes through independent assurance and risk insight 

May suit students studying: Accounting, Business, Commerce, Data Science, Economics, Finance, Law, Technology or other analytical disciplines.

Macquarie Asset Management

Macquarie Asset Management (MAM) is a leading global asset manager, trusted by institutions, individuals and communities to responsibly manage their assets over the long term. MAM offers clients a diverse range of investment capabilities, including infrastructure, green investments, agriculture, real estate, credit and insurance, and solutions. 

Depending on your individual role, you could be:

  • analysing investment opportunities, risks and market trends across real estate, infrastructure, private credit and real assets

  • researching sectors, markets, assets, and portfolio companies to support investment and risk management decisions

  • supporting due diligence, investment reviews, risk assessments, and portfolio management activity

  • preparing client materials, market updates and presentations that help communicate insights and recommendations

  • supporting client engagement, product development, marketing and communications activities that help connect investors with Macquarie's investment capabilities across asset management and wealth solutions

May suit students studying: Economics, Engineering, Finance, Management, Mathematics or other analytical subjects.

Macquarie Capital

Macquarie Capital partners with businesses, startups and governments to connect ideas to capital and help drive innovation, growth and real-world impact. As a global adviser, investor and developer, our teams bring together strategic advice, flexible capital solutions and deep sector expertise to help clients achieve their goals. You’ll be working in collaborative teams that value camaraderie, respect and shared success.

Depending on your individual role, you could be: 

  • contributing to client projects across a range of sectors, whether placed as a generalist supporting technology, software, services and consumer clients, or placed as a specialist in areas such as infrastructure or financial institutions  

  • building financial analysis, valuation and financial modelling skills

  • drafting client presentations and pitch materials that turn ideas into opportunities

  • supporting strategic M&A advisory, capital raising and live transaction activities

  • tracking market news, share price movements, sector trends and transaction updates

May suit students studying: Finance, Economics,  Management, Engineering, Mathematics or other analytical subjects

Risk Management Group

Risk Management Group (RMG) is Macquarie's independent risk function, helping teams identify, assess, monitor and manage material risks across a global financial services business. We provide objective review and challenge, oversee the risk management framework, and support responsible decision-making through risk analysis, compliance oversight, regulatory engagement and reporting.

Depending on your individual role, you could be:

  • monitoring, analysing and explaining risk exposures arising from trading activities, financial products and portfolios

  • working closely with business stakeholders to understand positions, strategies, profit and loss drivers, and potential risk impacts

  • assessing risks, reviewing models and applying quantitative techniques to support risk oversight and informed decision-making

  • supporting stress testing, scenario analysis, risk reporting and management updates

  • assessing controls, identifying themes and helping manage regulatory and governance obligations 

May suit students studying: Mathematics, Physics,  Economics, Finance, Engineering or other highly quantitative disciplines

Technology

Our Technology teams sit within the Corporate Operations Group (COG), which brings together technology, data, AI, digital platforms, operations and specialist support teams that help Macquarie work efficiently, securely and at scale. As part of Technology, you'll help design, build and improve the systems, platforms and tools that support our people, clients and businesses globally.

Depending on your individual role, you could be:

  • designing, building and enhancing technology platforms that support trading, risk management and business operations

  • working on digital platforms, trading systems, business applications or data tools

  • learning agile delivery, software development, DevOps, cloud, automation or solution design 

  • using data, analytics, AI or emerging technologies to help solve business problems and improve processes 

  • partnering with technology and business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions and improve user experiences

May suit students interested in: Computer Science, STEM, Physics, Software Engineering, Data Science, AI, Technology, Engineering or Information Systems

The interview is intended to be a two-way process, so think of some questions you would like us to answer for you. This is also your chance to find out if Macquarie is the right fit for you.
