We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions about our application and recruitment processes. Whether you're a prospective candidate or a current applicant, we hope this information helps you navigate your journey with us.

The application process

Yes, all applications for roles at Macquarie must be submitted through our online application system.  This ensures our recruiters can review your application promptly and keep you updated on its progress.

1. Visit the returning applicants portal.

2. Type in your email address and select ‘Don’t know your password?’.

3. An email will be sent to you with instructions to reset your password.

You can track the status of your application at any time by logging into our returning applicant’s portal on our website. For graduate and intern roles, response times may be longer during peak periods due to high application volumes.  We appreciate your patience while we review each application.

We offer visa sponsorship for eligible candidates in various positions at Macquarie, in accordance with local immigration rules. Your work authorisation status, along with other factors, will be considered in the selection process. Please inform us of your work authorisation status during the application process.

For graduate and interns' roles, you will need to inform us of your residency status when applying and provide any necessary supporting documents.

For experienced professional roles, you can apply for more than one role. You will need to submit separate applications for each role but will not need to re-enter the same details for each application.

It is best to limit your applications to one or two roles that match your skills and interests. If you are progressing to interview for more than one of the roles, please let your recruiter know.

For graduates and interns, we only accept one application per person as we are looking for students who are passionate about the area that they are applying to.  In your application you’ll have the opportunity to select a first and second preference.  We will process your application for the first preference and will only consider you for your second preference if we find your profile suitable for that area.

You are only able to apply for one programme due to our eligibility criteria (i.e. the Summer Internship Programme or Graduate Training Programme but not both). Please only apply for the programme you are eligible for.

You can join Macquarie's Talent Community to stay connected for future opportunities. By joining, you'll be one of the first to hear about new roles and gain access to exclusive content, news, and events to help you shape a fulfilling career. You can also share your CV or Resume with our recruiters, who will contact you when suitable roles arise, and set up job notifications for new roles that match your interests.

  • Insight Programmes: Open 13 October 2025, close on 30 November 2025.

Your application is your opportunity to tell us why you want to work for Macquarie and what sets you apart. Your application and CV should highlight previous work experience, volunteering, extracurricular activities, key skills and achievements.

You do not need to include a cover letter or any other documentation (e.g., transcripts or references) when you submit your application. If you are successful, we may request these later in the process, particularly for graduate or intern roles.

For graduate and intern roles, we recommend submitting your application well before the deadline. We recruit on a rolling basis and may fill the roles before application window closes.

You may update your CV by logging in to our returning applicants portal. Use the login details you created when submitting your application and follow the prompts to upload your updated CV. However, if your application has already been reviewed, we will not be able to re-review it with the updated CV.

This means we have successfully received your application in our system.  Next, our recruiters will review your application for the role.

Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications we receive, we cannot provide specific feedback at the early stages of your application. However, if you are invited to interview, we will provide feedback.

If you’d like a copy of your psychometric assessment report, please contact our People Experience team. Allow a minimum of two weeks for a response.

At various stages throughout the recruitment process, you may be asked to provide feedback on your experience so far. Receiving a request for feedback does not mean that you have been unsuccessful. We appreciate any feedback that we receive to continue to improve our processes.

We are committed to making our workplace and culture welcoming and supportive for everyone. Please speak with your recruiter if you have accessibility requirements or need adjustments to support you to be at your best in the recruitment process.

  • your most recent direct manager or supervisor
  • someone else who has supervised you during the past five years

Please note, personal references will not be accepted. We do not ask for references for our graduate or intern roles.

Psychometric Assessments

A psychometric assessment is a standard and scientific method used to measure individuals' mental capabilities and behavioural style.

There are two parts to the assessment – one measuring your cognitive ability and the other measuring your behavioural preferences.

The information generated from this assessment, in combination with all the other information gathered during the selection process, will be used to assist us in ensuring we have a comprehensive view of the match between you and the position you have applied for.

There is no pass or fail for the psychometric assessment.

You may be asked to complete the assessment from home, or to come into one of our offices to complete it. The assessment typically takes about an hour. If you complete the assessment at home, you may be asked to come into one of our offices to complete a verification assessment.

Make sure you are prepared. Your recruiter will send you further information about the psychometric assessment and a link to do some practice tests. The practice assessments will help you familiarise yourself with the type of assessment.

Watch a short video on our psychometric assessment.

Macquarie holds candidate psychometric assessment results for two years, so if you have completed an assessment within the last two years you will not be required to complete this again.

If you completed our psychometric assessment, you may be asked to complete a verification assessment so we can verify your previous results.

If you are invited to sit the assessment again in error, please contact our  People Experience team who can advise you on next steps. We will re-review your assessment results and either progress you to the next stage of the recruitment process, or if we think you aren’t the right fit for the role you have applied for, we will inform you that we won’t be progressing with your application. Note that if we do not progress your application, we are unable to provide you with feedback at this stage.

Yes, you can request a copy of your psychometric assessment results once the recruitment process has concluded. Details on how to obtain your results will be provided to you upon completion of your assessment.

You will have seven days to complete the assessment. If you require an extension, please inform your recruiter before starting the assessment.

If you require a reasonable adjustment to complete the assessment or need additional time due to illness, please notify your recruiter to discuss your needs confidentially.  By starting the assessment, you confirm that you can complete it to the best of your ability. If you are unwell, we recommend waiting until you are well enough to complete the assessment.

If you are an experienced hire, please contact your recruiter. For early careers opportunities, please email our early careers team.
