"I’m delighted to reflect on the impact of Macquarie Sports over the past year. Our grants supported 66 young people on their path to employment and our funding enabled more than 1,800 children to participate in our community sports clinics. We also offered Macquarie Sports Scholarships to four elite student athletes, who completed summer internships within our businesses.

These number represent more than participation. Through our three core programs, we're highlighting the role sport can play in helping to build a better future for all."

Supporting people on their path to employment

In FY2026, our Macquarie Sports grant partners provided support for young people on their path to employment.

Clontarf Foundation

Clontarf Foundation aims to improve the education, discipline, self-esteem, life skills and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men. Our grant funds the placement of boys at Tweed River High School Clontarf Academy, which opened in 2023.

"The Tweed River Academy has exceeded its original grant goals, growing from a target of 40 members to an average enrolment of around 70 boys with attendance consistently above 85%. Over the past three years, it has become a respected part of the Tweed Heads community, recognised for its positive impact on students and strong community involvement. The partnership with Macquarie Sports has further strengthened operations in northern NSW, improving educational outcomes, community cohesion and positive representation for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men."

Surfing Australia

Surfing Australia formed in 1963 to guide and promote the development of surfing in Australia. Our grant supports Coach-Ready, a surf-coach employment pathways program held on the Gold Coast for young people from around Australia.

"The Macquarie Sports grant enabled Surfing Australia to remove financial barriers that would otherwise prevent young people from accessing industry-required surfing accreditation. Over the last three years, the grant has directly transformed the employment prospects of 60 participants. The involvement of Macquarie staff during final assessments added confidence, mentorship, and valuable real-world interaction."

Sports clinics

Macquarie Sports works with peak sporting bodies to provide sporting clinics to children in communities around Australia. In FY2026, together with our partners, Macquarie Sports held 27 community sporting clinics across nine sports, engaging more than 1,800 children, many located in rural or underserved communities across Australia.2

The clinics give children access to train with some of Australia’s best sporting role models and provide participants with brand new sporting equipment.

Spotlight on Coach-Ready surf clinic

Participants of Surfing Australia’s Coach-Ready program completed their final assessment prior to graduation, coaching Macquarie employees from our Brisbane and Gold Coast offices. Following the week-long course, participants returned to surf coaching employment opportunities in their local communities.

Macquarie Sports Scholarships

The Macquarie Sports Scholarship offers elite student-athletes a unique opportunity to build confidence, capability and connection as they prepare for life beyond competition. Through a paid summer internship within one of Macquarie’s business groups, scholars gain exposure to real corporate environments, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop career‑ready skills that complement the discipline and resilience honed through sport. Scholars also have the opportunity to contribute to Macquarie Sports’ charitable programs within the community.

In 2025, we welcomed four Macquarie Sports Scholarship recipients across Banking and Financial Services, Commodities and Global Markets, Macquarie Asset Management, and Financial Management, People and Engagement.

We would like to thank the Macquarie Sports Committee for their guidance and support over the past year:
