Starting your career at Macquarie

Our Graduate or Internship Programs follow a slightly different recruitment process. See the process here

A typical recruitment process at Macquarie follows the below structure. Click on each link for further information.

Once you’ve found a role that suits your experience and skills, you will need to apply through our online application form. You will be required to submit some details about yourself, as well as your resume and cover letter. You’ll receive an auto-generated email to let you know we’ve received your application.

If you are proceeding to the next round in the recruitment process, you’ll receive a call from one of our recruiters to find out more information about you.

Following this, you may be invited to attend a face to face interview. In response to COVID-19, depending on individual circumstances and local conditions, the interview can be conducted virtually.

Some roles use a one-way video interview for the first round. Your recruiter will let you know if you are going to be completing a video interview and will help prepare you with further information.

The next stage of the process is typically a psychometric assessment, a standard and scientific method used to measure individuals' cognitive ability and behavioural style.

The information generated from this assessment, in combination with the other information gathered during the selection process, will be used to assist us in ensuring we have a comprehensive view of the match between you and the position you have applied for.

There is no pass or fail for the psychometric assessment.

You will be asked to complete the assessment from home and it typically takes about an hour. You may also be asked to complete a verification assessment at a later date.

Your recruiter will send you further information about the psychometric assessment and a link to practice assessments which will help you familiarise yourself with the nature of the assessment. Please note that the practice assessment sent by your recruiter is the only authentic practice assessment for Macquarie.

Following your assessment, you may be invited to attend further interviews with members of our team. The number of interviews required will depend on the role you are applying for.

After your final interview your recruiter will give you an estimated timeframe of when you will be contacted regarding feedback from your interview.

If you receive an offer from Macquarie, you will be required to complete reference checks and employment screening before you commence.

Macquarie has a unique hiring process, with recruitment for some roles taking a number of weeks. Our team will keep you updated throughout the process, but please reach out to your recruiter if you have any questions about the status of your application. You can also check the status of your application by logging into our returning applications portal.

At various stages throughout the recruitment process, you may be asked to provide feedback on your experience so far. Receiving a request for feedback does not mean that you have been unsuccessful. We appreciate any feedback that we receive to continue to improve our processes.
