Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory, capital markets and principal investment arm of Macquarie Group (“Macquarie”), has announced the appointment of Gabrielle Gauthey as Senior Advisor to its Infrastructure and Energy Group in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Ms. Gauthey will support and help grow Macquarie Capital’s pipeline of investment opportunities across energy and infrastructure globally – with specific focus on data transmission, telecommunications and technology infrastructure. Ms. Gauthey joins Macquarie from Caisse des Depots et Consignations, the French Government’s infrastructure investment arm, where she was a member of the Executive Committee and led direct investment in several asset classes; including infrastructure, real estate and telecommunications.

With over thirty years of private and public sector experience in the European digital economy - including with Alcatel-Lucent and Arcep, France’s telecommunications regulator and as an advisor to the UN Broadband Commission - Ms. Gauthey is also a former Special Advisor to the French Minister in charge of telecommunications and IT and drafted the 1996 law opening the French telecommunications sector to competition.

Ms. Gauthey will report to Mark Bradshaw, who leads Macquarie Capital’s Infrastructure Projects team in Europe and the Americas. Mr. Bradshaw commented: "Gabrielle has a wealth of experience and an exceptional reputation in the telecommunications, energy and transport infrastructure sector.

"As the demand for data infrastructure financing and development across Europe and globally continues to grow, Gabrielle’s extensive experience will enable us to play a crucial role in the sector’s development."

Along with her deep experience investing in data infrastructure assets, Gabrielle will also provide invaluable contribution from both the private and public sector perspective in various fields, including PPP projects.”

Daniel Wong, Global Co-Head of Infrastructure and Energy for Macquarie Capital said: “As a global leader in advising and investing in the infrastructure and energy sectors, we specifically target investment in projects during the early development and construction phase – not only providing specialist sector expertise but also the capital to make projects happen. Gabrielle will help to deepen our relationships with a wider network of leading French developers and partners who we regularly work with in both European and international markets – and we welcome her onboard.”

Ms. Gauthey will work closely with Jean-Marc Janailhac, Senior Advisor to Macquarie Capital in Paris. Since 2004 Macquarie Capital has been building its presence in France, investing and advising on transactions in the infrastructure sector and working in partnership with French clients around the world. Her appointment follows that of Oliver Bradley in London, further supporting Macquarie Capital’s broader ambitions to expand its pipeline and client offering across the telecommunication and digital infrastructure markets globally.
