Macquarie appoints Marcus Garvey as Head of Metals and Bulks Commodity Strategy

London, 19 October 2020

Macquarie Group (“Macquarie”) (ASX: MQG; ADR: MQBKY) today announced the appointment of Marcus Garvey as Head of Metals and Bulks Commodity Strategy.

Mr. Garvey will be based in London, where he will lead the specialist team of six metals and bulks commodity strategists based around the world. Mr. Garvey will report to Macquarie Group’s Chief Economist and Head of Macro Strategy, Ric Deverell in Sydney.

Prior to joining Macquarie’s Commodities and Global Markets group in 2019,
Mr. Garvey built-up extensive experience across both the buy and sell side, since beginning his commodities career at Credit Suisse. Most recently, he was a senior commodity strategist at ICBC Standard Bank and previously worked with the commodity hedge fund, Duet.

Mr. Garvey holds a master’s degree in Chinese studies, specialising in Chinese political economy, from Oxford University and a first-class economics degree from Durham University.
