Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory, principal investment and capital markets arm of Macquarie Group, announces that Frédéric Devos has been appointed to the newly created position of Global Head of Portfolio Management, based in London.
Reporting to Alex Harvey, Global Head of Principal Transactions, Frédéric is responsible for managing a broad portfolio of on balance sheet investments across a number of markets and sectors globally. In Europe, Frédéric will also work closely with Daniel Wong, Head of Macquarie Capital Europe (ex-DACH), to originate partnership investment opportunities through his network of contacts across European utilities, contractors and services companies.
Frédéric has extensive expertise, particularly in utilities and infrastructure, and has been responsible for numerous acquisitions, restructurings and disposals during his career. He joins from CVC Capital Partners where he was Industrial Partner in the Infrastructure business. Prior to this, he spent over 20 years at the Veolia group, including roles at General Utilities and Three Valleys Water. Between 2007 and 2012 Frédéric served as CEO of Veolia Water UK, Ireland and Northern Europe.
Macquarie Capital has a strong track record of principal investing throughout the cycle having invested approximately £1.4 billion in 100 deals across a range of industries, structures and jurisdictions since 2008. The creation of this new role reflects Macquarie Capital’s commitment to a client-focused merchant banking model. The business focuses on building long-term advisory relationships with clients but also has the capacity to invest alongside clients and facilitate transactions that bring long-term benefits to all parties.
Alex Harvey, Global Head of Principal Transactions, comments: “Frédéric’s experience and expertise is clear to see, and he has a rare and invaluable combination of asset management and operational experience in sectors that are key for us. He is a proven business leader and coupled with the team we already have in place, we are confident that we can continue to deliver the quality of solutions and performance our clients expect.”
Frédéric has Masters Degree in Engineering from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Industries Agro Alimentaires and an Executive MBA from Cycle de Management Général du CPA.
