Flexibility and hybrid working

At Macquarie, hybrid working empowers us to work together flexibly, balancing time spent working in the office and at home. Our shift to hybrid working is an extension of our long-standing commitment to flexible working.

We are a people business. We build relationships and learn from each other. Hybrid working enables us to balance the needs of our clients, colleagues and teams, taking advantage of the benefits of coming together in person and providing our people with the flexibility they need.

There are plenty of opportunities for our employees to connect with their colleagues including through our Employee Network Groups such as Pride at Macquarie, Wellness, Families and Carers, Gender Equality, First Nations, and Heritage and Culture. Other employee-led networking and community opportunities include book club, choir, sporting groups and networking events.

Each of our business groups has different needs so expectations for hybrid working are set on a group and team basis. Formal flexible working arrangements are also available.

Leave to support your lifestyle and wellbeing

We offer a range of leave options to help our people manage their work and life priorities. Employees receive one wellbeing leave day per year and are eligible for up to five additional days' leave based on length of service.

Other leave options include compassionate and bereavement leave, paid leave for those impacted by family or domestic violence, paid defence leave, study/exam leave and emergency volunteer leave.

Eligible employees can also purchase up to 20 days’ additional annual leave and take up to three months' unpaid leave.

Taking care of your family

Your family is important to you, so they are important to us too. We support parents in many ways including through our parental leave policy. Primary carers are eligible for 20 weeks’ leave at full pay. There is no minimum tenure requirement meaning all employees are eligible for parental leave upon starting work at Macquarie.

To help parents transition to life as a working parent, we also offer 12 paid transition days upon your return. That means new parents can return to work four days and get paid for five days per week for 12 weeks; or return three days and get paid for five days per week for six weeks.

Co-parents can access up to six weeks paid leave at the time of birth, adoption or custody.

Other support services are also available including parents' rooms, access to a range of resources including childcare centres and school holiday programs1.

Health and wellness

Our employees have access to several benefits to support their physical health and mental wellbeing.

Some fitness benefits include discounted rates at a range of gyms, onsite fitness classes, bike racks and regular bike servicing as well as access to change rooms, lockers and showers.

Other health and wellness benefits include access to an Employee Assistance Program, corporate rates for private health insurance, various onsite health screening checks, flu vaccinations, quiet rooms and multi-faith prayer rooms and mindfulness programs.

Career development and learning

We empower our people to learn, grow and develop their careers with us. As an employee you will have access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities designed to help you develop your soft and technical skills.

You will also have access to subsidised relevant external study as well as paid professional memberships.

As a global business there are also opportunities for you to grow your career in one of our many offices around the world.

Managing your finances and other benefits
