Macquarie Capital today announced the appointment of Marc Middleton as Vice Chairman of its European Advisory business.
Mr Middleton is a senior banker who was formerly a Partner and Managing Director at NM Rothschild & Sons. For the past two years he was Managing Director of the British Government’s Shareholder Executive and a member of its Executive Committee.
His career at Rothschild spanned 24 years, including eight years as global head of the Telecoms Group and as a member of the Investment Banking Committee. In his last two years at Rothschild, Mr Middleton was Senior Sponsor of the Telecoms Group, with a focus on business generation and relationship management. He has extensive experience as an adviser and strategist for major corporates and Governments in the UK, Europe and Australasia across industries including telecoms, media, technology and logistics. Major deals on which he has advised include the privatisations of KPN, Deutsche Telekom and Swisscom, and the sale of John Caudwell’s Phones4u business.
