Working in Macquarie Capital, you could be focused on the development and delivery of tomorrow’s critical infrastructure projects, from an onshore wind farm in Norway that will power thousands of homes and contribute to carbon reduction targets, to a vital new road link in London that will support future population growth, or creating a market-leading independent wholesale fibre operator in Spain. You could be helping major corporates to identify and execute strategic opportunities, mergers and acquisitions, or working closely with investors to identify high quality opportunities to deploy capital.

Working in Macquarie Capital, you could be:

  • analysing financial data; including interpreting company reports, performing valuation exercises, building and running financial forecast models
  • drafting presentations to pitch transaction ideas to clients, with an emphasis on deep dives into sector trends and company business models
  • involved in running key transaction work streams on live deals, for example; an information memorandum to share with potential investors, due diligence relating to a potential acquisition, drafting a proposal for an investment committee or liaising with legal representatives or tax advisers on key transaction issues
  • working with the executives of renowned corporates, including CEOs, CFOs and business development teams, as well as investment professionals in private equity firms
  • working closely with technical and engineering experts on the development of infrastructure projects ranging from renewables to transport to social housing
  • tracking share price movements and press articles to keep the deal team updated as transactions progress
  • sitting alongside some of the best mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets advisors, and principal investors in the country.

Acted as financial adviser on the first listed infrastructure fund take-private in the UK, worth £1.6 billion. Macquarie Capital led the consortium through a complex valuation process for a portfolio of 65 assets during a challenging macroeconomic environment.

Acquired Premier Technical Services Group (PTSG), which provides tech-enabled specialist testing and compliance services to over 20,000 customers across the UK, supporting the company to continue with its acquisitive growth strategy.

Macquarie Capital, with co-investment from Aberdeen Standard Investments, created Spain’s first independent wholesale only fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) operator, providing ultrafast internet in five major Spanish cities to improve business and people connectivity.

Advised Bosch Group, the largest automotive supplier globally, on the sale of its packing machinery division Bosch Packaging Technology, successfully leveraging our well-established relationships with leading global financial sponsors.

Mergers and acquisitions (M&A)

Advising clients on strategic and financial issues including M&A, divestments, takeover responses, debt and equity financing, capital management and restructuring.

Capital markets

We have specialist capabilities to match capital with high quality investment opportunities. Our Debt Capital Markets team provides debt advisory, underwriting and lending services across the full spectrum of debt markets, products and sectors. Our Equity Capital Markets team is a leading underwriter of equity issuances, with access to the expertise and global distribution strength of Macquarie. Our Private Capital Markets team works with global institutional investors on private capital transactions across both debt and equity markets and unlisted and direct investment opportunities.

Principal investment

Our principal investment and financing teams utilise Macquarie’s balance sheet to provide flexible financing solutions and invest equity alongside clients and partners to support transactions, develop assets and build businesses. Our teams work across a range of sectors including renewables, transport, digital infrastructure, healthcare and services.

Green Investment Group (GIG)

GIG is Macquarie’s primary vehicle for principal investment in green energy projects globally, and is a specialist in green infrastructure principal investment, project development and delivery, green impact advisory and the management of portfolio assets. Its track record, expertise and capability make it a global leader in green investment and development, dedicated to accelerating the green transition.

Wallise Wu’s graduate year included working on a joint venture which is developing a pipeline of over 700MW of early stage solar projects across the Netherlands, France, and Spain.

Carlos Fernandez likes that his work allows him to have a positive, tangible impact. In his graduate year, he was given the opportunity to work on Macquarie's bid and financial close to build 530 new homes and apartments in Dublin as part of a social housing PPP project in Ireland.
