Press Release
Seoul, 03 March 2026
Macquarie Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Fund 4 (“MAIF4”), a fund managed by Macquarie Asset Management (“MAM”), and Gabia Inc. (“Gabia”), a leading cloud-specialised IT company in South Korea today announced a strategic partnership to develop a next generation hyperscale data centre platform in South Korea.
Under a joint venture agreement signed on 25 February 2026, the two companies will jointly invest approximately KRW 600billion (c. $US 420 million) over the next four to six years. The platform aims to develop more than 100 MW of data centre capacity across key metropolitan and regional locations in South Korea.
The partnership’s first project will be the Ansan Data Center, a 40 MW facility. Positioned to serve as a critical AI infrastructure hub for the Seoul metropolitan region, the Ansan development will complement Gabia’s newly completed Gwacheon data center, which has been optimized to support GPU-intensive and high-density workloads.
Moving forward, MAIF4 and Gabia will pursue domestic data center investments. MAIF4 will lead asset management and financing activities, including site acquisition, permitting, and project financing. Gabia, supported by its subsidiary KINX, will manage end to end service operations such as data centre design, network buildout, operations and maintenance, and customer acquisition.
As South Korea’s only neutral Internet Exchange (IX) operator, KINX brings strong connectivity capabilities to the platform. By leveraging KINX’s network infrastructure, Gabia will be able to deliver optimized multi cloud and hybrid cloud environments for tenants. Serving as a central hub linking domestic and global cloud service providers, this combined network footprint is expected to give Gabia a distinct competitive edge in performance, reliability, and interconnection.
MAM has been investing in and operating digital infrastructure globally for over 25 years. The firm has built a robust portfolio globally, including investments across major regions including the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Its data centre portfolio spans hyperscale, colocation, and interconnection platforms, with key investments in Aligned Data Centers and Netrality in the U.S., VIRTUS in the UK and Europe, Hanam Data Centre and AirTrunk across Asia-Pacific, and Odata in Latin America. In 2024, MAM completed its exit from AirTrunk, at the time the largest data center transaction globally. Subsequent to the AirTrunk divestment, in 2025, MAM further demonstrated its leadership in the sector by completing what then became the largest-ever global data center transaction with the sale of Aligned Data Centers.
