For California Residents - Notice at Collection of Personal Information

Effective 1 January 2020

This Notice describes the personal information the Macquarie Group collects from and about prospective employees, employees and independent contractors who reside in California. We want you to understand the categories of personal information we collect and the purposes for which the information will be used. This Notice may be read in conjunction with the Macquarie Group Privacy Policy, which is accessible here.

Prospective employees, employees and independent contractors who reside outside California should review the Macquarie Group Privacy Policy to understand the standards of privacy practice and security applicable to them.


Prospective employees who reside in California

Categories of Personal Information We CollectWhat We Do With It
Identifiers, such as your name, mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number(s) and Social Security Number. We use this information to identify you and to communicate with you during the application and screening process.
Professional or employment-related information about your qualifications and background, such as educational history, professional licenses, employment experience, references from previous employers, whether you have ever been sanctioned by a professional body, whether you are subject to any restrictive covenants, assessment results to measure your preferred working styles and aptitudes and information from your public social media accounts (such as LinkedIn, etc.). We use this information to determine whether you have the qualifications, skills and experience to perform the duties and functions of the job for which you are applying, and to determine whether to offer you employment.  We also may use this information to determine the appropriate salary or rate of pay if you are offered employment.
Information reported to us as a result of a consumer report or investigative consumer report that you authorize. We use this information to help us determine whether to entrust you with confidential information and to determine whether to offer you employment.
Voluntary identification of your race/ethnicity, gender, disability status and veteran status (you have the option to choose not to self-identify). We use this information to comply with governmental record keeping and reporting requirements. 
Information concerning your legal authorization to work in the United States and whether you will require visa sponsorship now or in the future. We use this information to ensure that you are legally authorized to work in the United States. 
Biometric information and images such as photographs and video from security cameras in certain locations in our offices and surrounding areas. We use this information to maintain the security and safety of our premises.


Employees who reside in California

Categories of Personal Information We CollectWhat We Do With It
Identifiers, such as your contact information, such as name, mailing address, e-mail address, date of birth, marital status, telephone number(s), Social Security Number and emergency contact. We use this information to communicate with you during your employment.
Information to verify that you are eligible to work in the United States, such as a Form I-9 and the information required by that form (including your Social Security Number, date of birth, driver’s license or passport number, and signature).  We use this information to comply with federal and state laws that require us to verify your identity and your eligibility to work in the United States.
Identifiers, such as your name, nickname, address, mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number, mobile telephone number, Social Security Number, date of birth, tax status, signature and bank account information.   We use this information to process our payroll and to comply with our tax obligations and other legal obligations.  We also use this information to deposit funds to your bank account if you so instruct. 
Identifiers, such as your Social Security or Tax Identification Number, medical information and information regarding your dependents and beneficiaries.1 We use this information to provide you with employment benefits. 
Professional or employment-related information about your professional qualifications and experience, and educational information about your degrees, and professional licenses, and your photograph. We use this information to develop and promote our business relationships and in promotional materials relating to our business.
Information concerning business-related travel and expenses submitted for reimbursement. We use this information for internal financial management.
Biometric information and images, such as photographs and videos from security cameras in certain locations in our offices and surrounding areas. We use this information to maintain the security and safety of our premises.
Information regarding your activities using our electronic equipment or web servers, such as internet browsing history, e-mails and texts.   We use this information to monitor employee activities, to maintain the security of our equipment and information and to detect improper activity.
Additional information as described in our policies and procedures found on Macnet. We use this information to operate our business, maintain the security and safety of our premises, systems and employees, and protect the confidentiality of Macquarie Group information and our clients’ information.  


Independent Contractors Who Reside in California

Categories of Personal Information We Collect What We Do With It
Your contact information, such as name, mailing address, e-mail address and telephone number(s). We use this information to communicate with you during your work with Macquarie Group.
Identifiers, such as your name, nickname, address, mailing address, e-mail address, telephone number, mobile telephone number, Social Security Number, Tax Identification Number, Form 1099, signature and bank account information.  We use this information to process payment and to comply with federal and state laws regarding our tax obligations. We also use this information to deposit funds to your bank account if you so instruct. 
Your business name and independent contractor agreement with us.

We use this information to define our relationship with you, the scope of your work, payment method, payment schedule, deliverables schedule, the process for dealing with changes in scope, and other terms of your contract with us.

Biometric information and images, such as photographs and video, from security cameras in certain locations in our offices and surrounding areas. We use this information to maintain the security and safety of our premises.
Information regarding your activities using our electronic equipment or web servers, such as internet browsing history, e-mails and texts.  We use this information to monitor activities on Macquarie’s network, to maintain the security of our equipment and information and to detect improper activity.

1 Note: this information is not collected for fixed-term employees whose length of employment is shorter than 90 days, and fixed-term employees whose length of employment is longer than 90 days and who work fewer than 20 hours per week.
