Manila, 30 Jan 2015
One million pesos have been raised to help educate economically disadvantaged children in the Philippines, through a Macquarie-organised fun run around the Ayala Triangle in Manila’s CBD which saw over 1000 people register.
Building on the success of the inaugural event in 2014, the second Macquarie Manila Charity Fun Run took place on 25 January, coinciding with broader Australia Day celebrations in Manila and supported by the Australian Embassy and Austrade.
Macquarie staff coordinated the event, led by employee group the Manila Running Club (with help from the photography and music groups and others) and which featured 2.5km, 5km and 10km events, as well as a short kids dash.
This year’s participant funds have been donated to the Center of Excellence in Public Elementary Education food aid program for its most disadvantaged children, as well as its training institute and garden and library maintenance program.
