Internship opportunities

As an Intern, you’ll contribute to the critical role our team plays in the MIRA value proposition, which involves developing new products, raising capital from investors, and managing relationships with MIRA’s existing client base. Together with the rest of the team, you will work with senior relationship managers and product specialists to support MIRA’s global fundraising efforts by building a strong understanding of MIRA’s platform and business model, as well as the track record and strategy of its managed funds and the underlying assets. You can expect to deliver investor reporting and updates, and develop market analysis to deliver new clients to the business. You will benefit from broad exposure across infrastructure assets and sectors as well as other alternatives, such as real estate, private credit and agriculture.

Your role as an Intern in one of our Infrastructure Equity Investment teams will see you working on infrastructure assets across Europe, helping to manage and invest in companies that underpin communities, economies, and supply chains.

Relied on by over 100 million people around the world each day, our diverse portfolio includes investments in green infrastructure like wind farms and solar farms, road networks connecting communities, airports serving major cities, high-quality real estate and telecommunications infrastructure.

In addition to helping shape the future direction of these businesses, you will be given the opportunity to help ours – working on projects and research relating to existing and targeted assets and assisting with acquisitions through detailed valuation analysis and due diligence.

As a Graduate in our Private Credit Investment Team, you’ll work on key infrastructure assets. These assets are typically less risky and generate stable cash flow over long periods of time. Institutional investors such as pension funds seek to match their long-dated liabilities by investing in infrastructure debt assets which generate long-dated stable returns. By joining the Private Credit Investment team, you’ll assist in originating, structuring and executing transactions by helping infrastructure asset owners issue debt products and use institutional investor funds to invest in these products.

Your role will see you get involved in all aspects of investment analysis including building and reviewing sensitivities on financial models, reviewing due diligence on potential investments and assessing the appropriate debt level and debt structure for the potential acquisition.  You’ll also have responsibility for aspects of portfolio management as well as producing investment papers and client requests.

Introduction to Macquarie Infrastructure Debt Investment Solutions (MIDIS)

Meet our team

Grace Kim – Macquarie Asset Management

"After graduating with a BSc in Economics, I joined the Macquarie Infrastructure Debt Investment Solutions (MIDIS) team in 2017 on the Macquarie Graduate Programme. My experience at MIDIS has been extremely rewarding – since day one, I have been involved in the financial modelling and credit analysis of fundamental infrastructure projects across multiple sectors and geographies, including the construction of an offshore wind farm in the UK, the refinancing of a motorway in France and the acquisition of a district heating network in Scandinavia. "

“In parallel to my work on transactions, I have regular opportunities to present material updates on our existing borrowers to the Investment and Risk team directors, the Investment Committee and our investors. I also had the opportunity to meet with investors in Korea while I was working closer to my home in the Seoul office (allowing me to utilise flexible working). Together with the many training courses that Macquarie offers, this level of responsibility and exposure has allowed me to progress on a steep learning curve since I joined."

“MIDIS places great emphasis on team spirit and social activities, and outside of day-to-day work I have gone on ski weekends with the team and have participated in touch rugby tournaments and charity cycling. Last year, I abseiled down the 80m platform of the ArcelorMittal Orbit in Stratford to raise money for a charity supported by the MIDIS team.”

Olivia Hall – Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets

“I joined Macquarie as an intern, having taken part in the spring Insight Programme the previous year. The Insight Programme was a great opportunity to get an understanding of the asset management business.

“After I finished university, I joined Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets as an Analyst on the Graduate Programme. As a member of the Investor Solutions Group, I support the relationship managers in capital raising, including producing fund establishment documents, investor presentations and due diligence questionnaire responses.

“From the beginning, I was given a high level of responsibility and exposure to investors which has allowed me to progress on a steep learning curve in a stimulating and exciting work environment. This has been an invaluable experience so far, especially as I’m supported by a talented and ambitious team.”
