Applications open for research grants for non-profit CEOs

Sydney, 13 July 2016

The Macquarie Group Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Macquarie Group, has launched the 2016 David Clarke Social Innovation Fellowships in Australia, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and selected cities in the US (New York, Chicago, Houston and Philadelphia).

Recipients of the 2016 Fellowships will receive a grant payable to their non-profit organisation ($A20,000, $HK150,000, £10,000 or $US20,000, depending on their location) to cover airfares, accommodation and other costs associated with an international trip/s (proposed by each applicant) to visit and research best practice social innovation in their field.

The Fellowships are presented biennially to CEOs of non-profit organisations to recognise, promote and reward ideas that address social needs, and to encourage lateral thinking on community issues.

“We recognise that innovation is essential for successfully addressing long-term community problems and we hope that the Fellowships will cement the winning organisations’ abilities to develop their program further and motivate other non-profits to consider how they can innovatively deliver services in the community,” said Lisa George, Global Head, Macquarie Group Foundation.

The David Clarke Social Innovation Fellowship was established in 2012 in memory of Macquarie Group Foundation’s founding Chairman, David Clarke AO. In 2014 the Fellowship program extended to include individual grants for non-profit CEOs in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the US.
