Macquarie Capital today announced the appointment of Allan Bertie as Senior Managing Director in the newly created Industrials, Communications and Sponsors (ICS) team.
With more than 19 years investment banking experience, Mr Bertie joins Macquarie Capital from GCA Savvian where he was Managing Director and Chief Executive of the European operation, responsible for financial sponsors’ coverage, cross border initiatives and industrials. Prior to this role, Mr Bertie gained extensive experience at Dresdner Kleinwort, Bridgewell Limited, Credit Suisse First Boston and Schroders where he completed many domestic and international industrials transactions for corporate and financial sponsors clients, including 3i, KKR and Cinven.
Commenting on Mr Bertie’s appointment, Graeme Conway, Senior Managing Director and Head of Macquarie Capital in Europe said: "Allan joins Macquarie Capital at an important point in our continued development. His long-standing relationships within the financial sponsors sector, combined with extensive transactional experience, is a strong fit for our newly formed ICS team".
Mr Bertie is the latest in a series of senior hires to Macquarie Capital in Europe. Raj Khatri joins today from Royal Bank of Scotland as a Senior Managing Director. Recently, Roland Shmidt joined from Lazard in Germany as a Managing Director; Simon Wilde joined from the Royal Bank of Scotland as Head of European Power and Utilities; Michael Tarrant joined from Rothschild to be Head of Industrials, Marc Middleton from the UK Shareholder Executive to be Vice Chairman and Rainer Langel from Lazard to be Head of Germany. Mr Bertie’s appointment is effective from 14 November 2011.
