Graduates and Interns

Recruitment process

Applications open on 1 September and closing dates will depend on the programme you’ve applied for. Please check the job description for further information.

During the application opening dates, you can apply for the programmes using our online application form. You will be required to submit some details about yourself and your CV. You’ll receive an auto-generated email to let you know we’ve received your application.

Your application will be reviewed by our Graduate Recruitment Team and successful candidates will receive an invitation to complete a psychometric assessment.

In this stage of the process you’ll be asked to complete a psychometric assessment, which is a standard and scientific method used to measure individuals' cognitive ability and behavioural style.

The information generated from this assessment, in combination with the other information gathered during the selection process, will be used to assist us in ensuring we have a comprehensive view of the match between you and the position you have applied for. There is no minimum score required to progress to the next stage. What we look for in your results are the specific skills and attributes required for the role you have applied for.

You will be asked to complete the assessment from home, which typically takes about an hour. If you’re successful, you may be asked to complete a verification assessment at a later date.

Your recruiter will send you further information about the psychometric assessment and a link to do some practice assessments which will help you familiarise yourself with the nature of the assessment. Please note that the practice assessment sent by your recruiter is the only authentic practice assessment for Macquarie.

Please refer to our psychometric assessment video.

If we think there is a strong match between you and the programme you’ve applied for, you’ll be invited to complete a video interview. In the video interview, you’ll be asked to answer a number of pre-recorded questions under timed conditions tailored to the business group you have applied for. The questions we ask will give us an opportunity to learn more about you and why you are passionate about a career at Macquarie.

If you’re successful after the video interview, you’ll be invited to attend further interviews with members of our team at our Superday. The nature of the Superday will depend on the team you are applying for. Generally, you’ll be asked to consider a case study, a problem-solving activity or an article and present your views to the team. You can also expect to be asked some competency-based questions. These interviews are also a great opportunity for you to gain further insight into whether a career at Macquarie is right for you.

If you’ve applied for the Graduate Programme, you may be invited to attend a final interview after the Superday.

Due to the current circumstances with COVID-19, you can expect your Superday and final interview/s to be virtual. Your Graduate Recruiter will provide further information on the process and how to prepare.

If you make it to this stage of the process, you’ll also be asked to complete a verification of your psychometric assessment.

All candidates who meet us at Superday and final interview stages will be provided with feedback on the outcome of their interviews, and we aim to provide this feedback to you as soon as possible.

If you are successful, you’ll be contacted by your Graduate Recruiter with an offer and you will have five days to accept your offer.

If you receive an offer from Macquarie, you will be required to complete reference checks and employment screening before you commence. The Graduate Recruitment team will contact you to provide you with further details.
