Press Release

Response to The Sunday Times, 20 August 2015

London, 20 August 2015

In an article published by The Sunday Times on 16 August 2015, it was claimed that Macquarie has “no women at board level or the equivalent” based on analysis of senior roles registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

This analysis does not accurately represent Macquarie’s gender diversity statistics either in the UK or globally.

As an Australian-headquartered organisation with offices in 28 countries, a majority of Macquarie’s most senior executive positions are, understandably, located outside of the UK.

The FCA requires registration of regulated roles so this is only a partial representation of Macquarie’s UK employee population. Macquarie has fewer roles which are categorised CF 1-4 by the FCA compared with many larger UK-based organisations.

Macquarie Group has an active and ongoing commitment to workforce diversity to ensure its business remains innovative, sustainable and able to meet the needs of its clients.

As published in our most recent annual report, and acknowledged by The Sunday Times, women represent 30 per cent of Macquarie Group’s Board of Directors and 23 per cent of its Executive Committee.
