Macquarie Infrastructure Debt Investment Solutions (MIDIS), part of the Macquarie Funds Group, is expanding its European footprint with the appointment of Tom van Rijsewijk and Tim Humphrey and the relocation of Andrew Robertson and Fiona Griffin. The expansion of the team is in response to a growing portfolio of infrastructure debt investments and a broadening of the investor base across Europe.
Tom van Rijsewijk joins from ING Bank where he worked in the Infrastructure Finance & Advisory team in London. He was responsible for sourcing senior financing for infrastructure projects, including motorways, airports, social infrastructure and utilities in EMEA and Australia. Prior to joining this team Tom worked with ING Investment Management in New York.
Tim Humphrey joins Macquarie from TradeRisks, a corporate finance firm, where he was responsible for sourcing capital markets funding from insurance and pension scheme investors looking to access both the social housing and broader infrastructure sectors. Tim was previously a commercial actuary at Lucida plc and a senior consultant at Watson Wyatt.
Fiona Griffin, who is a Managing Director in the Macquarie Funds Group and Head of Risk for MIDIS, and Andrew Robertson, who is a Managing Director in the Macquarie Funds Group and Head of Investor Structuring and Strategy, will be also be relocating from Sydney, Australia.
James Wilson, Senior Managing Director and CEO of MIDIS, said: “We launched MIDIS 18 months ago as an institutional-grade funds management business which caters for the specific needs of long term investors who are looking to access high quality debt in the infrastructure sector. Since then, the number and range of infrastructure debt investments we have made has continued to grow. We’ve also seen increasing interest in the asset class from investors across Europe. The arrival of Tim Humphrey and Tom van Rijsewijk and the relocation of Fiona and Andrew are central to the growth of both the investment team as well as the continued expansion of our investor focussed approach to asset selection.”
