Macquarie Investment Management (MIM), part of the Macquarie Funds Group, today announces the appointment of four senior executives to strengthen its distribution across Europe.
Alistair Morrison, Head of European Distribution for MIM, said: "I’m delighted that the strength and diversity of our product offering, combined with the opportunity to join a growing European business, has enabled us to attract such high quality people. We are building an experienced team of senior professionals devoted to providing specialist strategies to leading European institutions.
"Through pooled funds or separate accounts, we offer market-leading investment capabilities in global, emerging, Asia-Pacific and US equities, high yield and investment grade fixed income, private equity funds and tailored risk management solutions. These four hires reflect the growth of our business in Europe and Macquarie’s commitment to clients in the region."
As Head of UK Financial Institutions, Jerry Devlin brings a wealth of experience to MIM having spent over 20 years in senior sales roles targeting UK, European, and Channel Islands financial institutions. Jerry joins Macquarie having previously been head of UK Mutual Fund Sales at Barings and most recently Global Head of Sales at Castlestone Management.
Commenting on his appointment, Jerry said: "I am impressed by the quality and breadth of the Macquarie fund offering. In particular, the Asia New Stars Fund from Macquarie in Hong Kong and the US Large Cap Value Fund from Delaware Investments. Asia New Stars was recently awarded Best Asia Pacific Small and Mid Caps Equity Fund over three years in the 2012 Lipper Funds Hong Kong Awards; while Delaware Investments was ranked first in the "Barrons Fund Families Report" for 2012. I expect these and several other investment strategies to generate a significant amount of interest across Europe."
Jerry’s hire follows the recent appointment of Rich Guerin as Head of European Consultant Relations for MIM. Rich was previously at Blackrock Investment Management where he was Director, Global Consultant Relations in the United Kingdom and responsible for managing relationships with several global investment consultants. With over 14 years in the investment management industry, Rich has extensive experience in managing and developing relationships with strategically important consultants and clients across EMEA.
Xavier Michel, who will be based in Vienna, will have oversight for Macquarie Fund Solutions, the umbrella SICAV vehicle for several of Macquarie’s pooled funds. Xavier will play a central role in improving and further developing MIM’s pooled funds offering in Europe. He has extensive experience in risk management, outsource supervision and investment analytics having previously worked at HARDT Group, HypoVereinsBank, Carr Global, LIFFE and Credit Agricole.
In addition, Kate Giblin, will join MIM in London as Manager, Sales and Marketing Support. Kate has more than 10 years experience in marketing and communications across the public and private sectors, including six years in the investment management industry with Delaware Investments in Philadelphia.
Following these hires, the MIM team in Europe consists of 14 people located in London, Munich, Frankfurt, Zurich and Vienna.
