Global Mobility Manager, Corporate Operations Group
I joined Macquarie as a Human Resource Administrator in Manila with the employment contract team. I am now the Global Mobility Manager, working with Macquarie businesses and human resources teams, as well as external vendors, to assist with employee mobility globally. There are opportunities for Macquarie staff to work around the world, so the mobility function is important in order to support employees as they move from location to location.
My role has provided me with the opportunity to travel, meet and work with great people and I am constantly learning – no two days are the same.
I consider Macquarie’s culture to be very open. For example, I have been given the autonomy to work and perform to the best of my ability and management has provided me with the support to maximise my potential. Teamwork is valued and has played an important role in driving change and the success of projects I have worked on. I have witnessed mutual respect across the organisation and I am fortunate to work with dedicated, talented people – my colleagues are also a lot of fun.
My greatest achievement so far has been working on assignments overseas. It gave me the opportunity to be independent, to be immersed in another culture and to work with different people from whom I learnt a great deal. It also gave me a greater understanding of Macquarie as a whole and how the business works.
Business Analyst, Corporate Operations Group
As a Business Analyst within Human Resources, I analyse and report key metrics to support business decisions. I also manage Human Resources projects, initiatives and process improvements.
To succeed at Macquarie, I believe you need to think both on a strategic and operational level. You also need a collaborative mindset and a passion for innovation. You are encouraged to show initiative and take ownership of the projects entrusted to you.
No two projects are alike so I am always prepared to adjust to changing requirements. It is rewarding when I see my ideas turn into programs that have a positive impact on the organisation.
Executive, Financial Management Group
I am part of the Financial Management Group supporting the Enterprise Technology Division. My team reviews monthly expenses and business recoveries, monitors projects within the division and advises management accordingly.
I value learning something new with every task. At Macquarie, I have gained a lot of technical knowledge, as well as professional and communication skills.
I know there will be a lot more opportunities for me, within and outside my team, and I’m excited about expanding my horizons. My career at Macquarie can continuously evolve and I’m going to make the most of that.
Manager, Corporate Operations Group
I work in the Workplace Program Delivery team within the Technology division. My primary responsibility is to design and deliver remote access solutions to Macquarie as well as external parties.
The Workplace team is at the forefront of new technology, so it’s quite exciting to test and use new tools before we roll it out to our businesses globally.
My current role and career path is quite different to what I had in mind when I first joined Macquarie as a graduate. I have accepted opportunities which have led me to my current role. I’m happy with how things have turned out.
Senior Analyst, Risk Management Group
My career has been very vibrant and rewarding at Macquarie. I started at Macquarie with a limited background in risk management. Through being open to opportunities, I have been able to broaden my knowledge and expand the scope of my role.
Macquarie has supported my learning and development through on the job training as well as more formal training. The people I work with are professional. I value them and the culture within Macquarie. I believe this is the workplace to learn, excel and share.
Manager, Risk Management Group
I am the eLearning specialist for the Compliance Global Training team. I develop eLearning courses for Macquarie staff and manage the development pipeline.
I work with some of the most knowledgeable people in the training industry. I have learnt a lot from my colleagues. At the same time, you’re encouraged to show your initiative and go beyond what is expected of you. My colleagues have supported me as I’ve developed my skills and brought my own ideas to the team.
One of my best experiences at Macquarie was attending the Compliance Training Offsite in Sydney. This gave me the opportunity to meet the regional coordinators from around the world. To be in a room with all of my colleagues to plan the strategy for the year was very fulfilling. It gave me the sense that I am part of something big.
Executive, Financial Management Group
As part of the Country Finance Team, I am involved in various aspects of financial accounting and tax reporting for three Macquarie entities operating in the Philippines. Our team, as a whole, supports the business of Macquarie Offshore Services, Macquarie Capital Securities, and Macquarie Infrastructure Advisory Services on provision of daily internal reports, general accounting, monthly ledger reconciliations, and compliance to regulatory Tax requirements.
I joined Macquarie during the fiscal year-end audit and finalization of income tax figures. It’s the busiest time of year for the business and although it was challenging, I pushed myself to get up to speed on workflow processes. It was a worthwhile experience as it helped in my development and understanding of the business.
What makes you successful at Macquarie is to stay positive and keep an open mindset. As a business we are continually striving to improve our processes and this means there is constant changes, so you have to have the capacity to adapt.
