Olivia Templeman (Macquarie Capital)

“I am an analyst in Macquarie Capital in the Technology, Media, Entertainment and Telecommunications (TMET) team, with a focus on digital infrastructure and principal transactions.”

“I studied a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) at UNSW, and have also spent time studying international law and transitional justice at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

“Before I joined Macquarie as an Intern – and between my internship and starting back as part of the Graduate Program – I worked in early-stage venture capital in Australia and equity crowdfunding in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, covering deep learning, autonomous transport, smart cities, and the commercialisation of deep-tech developed through academic research. Having worked in high-tech and for a few start-ups, I never thought I’d work for a corporate – let alone a financial services organisation.

“The reason I loved my internship, and why I came back as a Graduate, was because of how intelligent and forward-thinking my colleagues are. We work in small teams and a fast-paced environment, and from day one you’re trusted with deliverables on live transactions and mandates.

“As an Analyst at Macquarie Capital, both the breadth and depth of our work covering the TMET sector has given me the opportunity to be part of M&A transactions and capital raisings on projects that are transformational for our clients.

“I also currently volunteer with Macquarie’s Graduate Volunteer Network, where we’ve raised over $A100,000 this year for a number of charities close to our hearts, with support from the Macquarie Group Foundation and their donation matching program.

“Beyond the personal and professional learning and development opportunities at Macquarie, I’m proud to work at Macquarie because of the social and environmental conscience toward the communities we work with, in and for.”

Eric Li (Risk Management Group)

“My career at Macquarie started when I joined the Summer Internship Program and then returned as a Graduate after completing my degree in Commerce and Law. I am now an analyst in Compliance supporting the equities trading division in Commodities and Global Markets.”

“It’s definitely been a steep learning curve but an extremely rewarding experience. A big part of my role involves liaising with different stakeholders, whether it be working with senior stakeholders within the business or engaging with regulators such as ASIC and ASX.

“As part of the Graduate Program, I underwent rotations in different Compliance teams where I gained exposure to the other areas of the organisation. One of my rotations was in the Wealth Advice team within Banking and Financial Services, the retail banking arm of Macquarie.

“Macquarie encourages its people to get involved in volunteering and social/extracurricular activities. I, along with several other Risk Management colleagues, endured the SMH Half Marathon last year to raise money for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation. We ended up raising over $A16,000 for a great cause. I’ve also been actively involved in the Risk Management Group touch football team where we play against other corporate organisations.”
