Nisha Pradhan (Macquarie Capital)

“I first joined Macquarie through the three-week Winter Development Program where I interned in the Infrastructure, Utilities and Renewables team in Macquarie Capital. I then re-joined the team as a Summer Intern and, following the completion of my Electrical Engineering and Finance degree, I joined as a Graduate in the same team.”

“The short nature of Winter Development Program was the perfect opportunity to get a taste of what a career in corporate finance and M&A would be like. It also helped me understand how I could combine the skills I was gaining from both my university degrees, to solve interesting challenges in a dynamic environment.

“As an Analyst in the infrastructure team I found myself working on large infrastructure projects that play a key role in the Australian economy and shape the way people live and work. Having recently moved to the Private Capital Markets team, I am currently working with a range of private capital investors across a wide variety of sectors including agriculture, technology, infrastructure and industrials. No two days are the same!

“One of my favourite things about Macquarie is our focus on giving back to the community. There are so many great initiatives throughout the year that we can participate in, including charity bake-offs, choir singing, fun-runs, tug-of-war competitions, cycling competitions, marathons and much more.”

Serena Kan (Corporate Operations Group)

“I studied a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and Commerce, and first joined Macquarie as a Summer Intern.”

“During my time as an Intern, I worked as part of Enterprise Data Management to help uplift data management capabilities within Macquarie. Despite joining an area unrelated to my studies, I felt well supported and was actively encouraged to learn, challenge myself and contribute to the team.

“I have since returned as a Graduate, where I work as part of a very diverse and collaborative team, to make a difference within the business and help realise the opportunities in data. Within my team, my role has been largely focused around metadata management, where I have had the opportunity to work closely with the business groups and contribute to a range of projects across the enterprise.

“The Graduate Volunteering Network has provided me with the opportunity to fundraise for charities through Graduate-led initiatives, broaden my network and attend a charity ball with my fellow Graduates.”
