Graduates and Interns

Learning and development

Our Graduate Programme is designed with our Graduates’ learning and development at the centre. Our programme provides you with the opportunity to immerse yourself in the financial services industry and build the technical skills and knowledge to kickstart your career.

Our Graduates tell us they want their programme to focus on skill development such as technical expertise, personal presence and impact, how to communicate effectively and building a positive personal brand. They also want to learn from the experience of others within the business, their career journeys, their challenges, and their advice for success.

We have designed your Graduate Programme with these in mind so that you are constantly learning. Your programme starts with a series of orientation activities tailored to your chosen business area, followed by structured technical training relevant for your role.

Building your network is crucial as you embark on your career and we know that this is important to you; so from day one you’ll be doing just that. Starting with your Graduate cohort, you’ll get to build your network of peers and colleagues across Macquarie and you can expect that to continue beyond your programme.

You’ll be invited to complete a number of orientation initiatives designed to help you get your bearings around your office and learn about how to make your mark at Macquarie. The initiatives will be a mixture of online learning and face-to-face events. You’ll attend ‘Discover Macquarie’, where you’ll meet some of your new colleagues and develop your understanding of Macquarie's structure and operating groups.

After six months, you’ll attend ‘Success at Macquarie’, where you’ll hear insights from our business leaders and learn about how to make the most of your career.

Your learning doesn’t end once you complete the Graduate Programme; there are a range of learning and development opportunities available to you from team development and manager capability to individual skills development. Our learning and development teams design programmes to help you develop your knowledge and skills.

At Macquarie, you’ll be encouraged to own your career. This means that it’s up to you to choose which direction you want to take – whether that’s taking on a new project; progressing within your division; exploring an opportunity in a different team; or relocating globally – and our learning and development programmes can be tailored to help you get there.
