Career Day a window on job opportunities
New York, 15 January 2015
In New York, college students from underprivileged backgrounds recently met with Macquarie staff to learn more about summer internship and career opportunities and how these will impact their economic mobility.
The 15 college sophomores, juniors and seniors are members of the America Needs You intensive mentoring program, which enables low-income students to realise their academic and career aspirations.
The students visited as part of Macquarie’s US Career Day which provided an opportunity to learn about Macquarie’s history and businesses, hear from recent graduates employed at the firm, tour the office, and attend a career panel discussion.
Each of the college students plan to apply for summer internships with Macquarie or other financial services firms, and left the event with a better understanding of best practices to advance their career development.
Macquarie staff and the Macquarie Group Foundation have been supporting America Needs You since 2010, recently providing the organisation with a $300,000 grant over three years to help it expand nationally, starting with Chicago.
Macquarie also received a Game Changer award from the organisation for its continued volunteering, pro bono and fundraising support.
