Macquarie First South appoints Sarah-Jane Wagg Head of Cash Equities

Johannesburg, 01 June 2012

Macquarie First South today announces that Sarah-Jane Wagg has joined the business as Head of Cash Equities in South Africa.

Most recently Country Head and Head of Equities for UBS South Africa, Sarah-Jane has more than 25 years’ experience in equities broking and capital markets including numerous roles leading equities divisions and country offices in Asia and Australia for major global institutions.

A native South African, Sarah-Jane started her career advising institutional clients for James Capel in Hong Kong. After moving to Australia to run James Capel’s Euro-convertible bonds desk, she held roles leading Asian sales desks for Smith New Court, BZW and James Capel before moving to Indonesia with PT UBS where she was Head of Sales and led the Jakarta Office for ten years. Sarah-Jane returned to South Africa with UBS as Head of Equities and Country Head for UBS AG in January 2010.

In her new role Sarah-Jane assumes overall responsibility for the strategy and operations of Macquarie’ First South’s Cash Equities business. This includes Equities Research, Sales, Sales trading and the distribution aspects of equity capital markets mandates. Sean Chilvers continues to lead Macquarie First South’s corporate finance advisory activities.

Macquarie First South was established 2006 as a joint venture between Macquarie Group’s South African corporate finance advisory business and J&J Group’s First South Securities, a black empowerment business and one of South Africa’s leading broking houses.
