Graduate Volunteer Network

Strengthening our communities where we live and work

At Macquarie, you'll be given the room to balance work with what matters to you. You'll have opportunities to make your own kind of incredible contribution while having fun along the way.

The Macquarie Group Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Macquarie and provides support to hundreds of community organisations globally each year through financial support, volunteering and skills sharing.  In FY2023, we reached over $A570m contributed by the Macquarie Group Foundation and Macquarie employees since the Foundation’s inception.

The Graduate Volunteer Network works closely with the Macquarie Group Foundation and is an initiative where our Graduates come together to organise fundraising events and raise money for charities close to their hearts. In years past, with initiatives like Christmas Jumper Day, Valentines Raffle, Omelette Challenge and Race to Sydney, our Graduate Volunteer Network in EMEA raised over £20,000.

The money that Macquarie employees raise for charities and non-profit organisations is matched dollar for dollar by the Macquarie Group Foundation, accordingly to its staff support policy.

Without doubt, the Graduate Volunteer Network has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my Graduate year here at Macquarie. Straight away, I was given the opportunity to take a hands-on approach to planning and running fundraisers and events. This gave me the platform to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including senior management, the Macquarie Group Foundation team members and fellow graduates. It really has been a pleasure to support FoodCycle (our chosen charity). If you are successful, get involved – you will not regret it!"

Oliver Ormond, Commodities and Global Markets

I found the Graduate Volunteer Network to be a fantastic way to develop relationships and build my profile, not only with senior stakeholders, but also within my graduate cohort. Through taking part in the Graduate Volunteer Network, I have relished the opportunity to take on a leadership role and utilise Macquarie's resources to make a difference to local communities through our chosen charity, FoodCycle. I found the experience extremely rewarding and the opportunity to take part in projects outside day to day work proved invaluable."

Adam Fairhurst, Risk Management Group

My time in the Graduate Volunteer Network has had a huge impact on my first year with Macquarie. Not only has it been an opportunity to give back to our community, but it has also given me invaluable leadership and networking opportunities beyond what would be available in my day to day role. A highlight for me was helping two enthusiastic groups of interns organise and run their own events which each raised a significant sum of money, and was for me a significant management challenge."
