Macquarie support beyond the CoRe

London, 01 December 2013

The Macquarie London's CoRe (Community Resourcing) programme runs annually from March to October, with staff working with select local community organisations to build their capacity. The relationships developed over the course of particular projects often result in volunteers continuing to support their nominated charity in various ways, even after the project's end.

This year's CoRe participants have been no different, with Risk Management's Ryan Pickard and Macquarie Capital's Michael Walmsley taking part in the London Santa Run with a few of the service users from Centre 404, which works with people with disabilities. Following Ryan and Michael's work with the charity - looking at new models of funding and support – the run was a way for them to help increase the profile of Centre 404 as well as raise close to £3,000 for the organisation.

Staff have also provided pro bono assistance to Solace Women's Aid, chosen as the recipient of Macquarie London's 2013 Christmas gift appeal. Staff donated over 200 presents to the charity, which provides refuge accommodation to abused women. Gifts included basic household items for women setting up homes with nothing to hand.
