Opportunity

Haren Prison is a €350 million Design, Build, Finance and Maintenance (DBFM) project of the new 1,190 person prison located in Belgium. The project is expected to solve capacity problems by replacing three other prisons in Brussels.


Approach

Macquarie Capital acted as sole financial adviser and majority sponsor on this project leading two debt financing competitions over a five-year period. The final structure involved eight lenders who provided a combination of construction equity bridge loans and long-term loan facilities.
