Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory and capital markets arm of Macquarie Group (“Macquarie”) (ASX: MQG; ADR: MQBKY) today announced that Rob Lester has joined its real estate group as a Managing Director based in New York. Rob brings to Macquarie his extensive real estate expertise, particularly in private capital markets, and will be responsible for originating and executing real estate transactions.
“The addition of Rob is a significant expansion of our global real estate group and representative of our ongoing efforts to increase our presence in the Americas,” said Nick Butcher, Head of North American Infrastructure, US Real Estate and US Resources for Macquarie Capital. “Rob’s excellent experience and industry relationships will contribute significantly to our global real estate practice which has raised $40 billion in private equity commitments since 2003.”
Macquarie Capital’s real estate group is a recognized industry leader in providing private capital solutions to clients, including capital raisings, recapitalizations, M&A, and restructurings. Mr. Lester will partner with Macquarie veteran Eric C. Wurtzebach to jointly lead the group’s efforts in the Americas. “Real estate operators today have a critical need for intelligent, tailored private capital market solutions and Rob’s expertise and relationships will enhance our global platform,” added Mr. Butcher.
Mr. Lester joins from Blackstone, where he spent nearly 10 years, most recently as a Managing Principal in the firm's Park Hill Real Estate Group. Previously, he worked in investment banking groups at Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown and BNP Paribas. Mr. Lester received his MBA from Pepperdine University and his BS in Economics from the University of California, Riverside.
