Environmental, Social and Governance
The environmental and social impacts of Macquarie’s own business operations predominantly relate to the resources we consume in our offices, data centres, business travel and our procurement activity. We seek to manage these impacts by monitoring and reducing our operational emissions, being efficient with resource use, improving the sustainability and diversity of our supply chain and maintaining innovative and sustainable workplaces.
In FY2023, our 2025 Sustainability Plan was updated to reflect the commitments outlined in the first combined Group Net Zero and Climate Risk Report.
More broadly, Macquarie reports on its progress against our commitments within the ESG section of the Macquarie Group Annual Report and the Net Zero and Climate Risk Report each year.
Our 2025 Sustainability Plan focuses on five key pillars, aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)1 with clear targets and initiatives under each pillar. The Plan reflects our ongoing commitment to have a positive social and environmental impact across our own business operations.

Macquarie is committed to ensuring high standards of environmental, social and governance performance throughout our supply chain. Therefore, we encourage our suppliers to have the same high standards – and to assist with this alignment, we have outlined our Principles for Suppliers. The Principles outline Macquarie’s expectations of our suppliers regarding human rights, environment, health and safety, and business ethics. They help Macquarie uphold its core values with the aim of having supplier relationships that create long term, sustainable value for our clients, shareholders and communities.
We acknowledge and value the important role of suppliers in our business success and therefore aim to foster strong supplier relationships that encourage collaboration. Suppliers should be familiar with the Principles for Suppliers and the core principles of Opportunity, Accountability and Integrity described in the Macquarie Group Code of Conduct. Macquarie encourages suppliers to conduct their own business in accordance with the principles set out in What We Stand For. Macquarie is committed to continuous improvement and this document is subject to modification from time to time.
