Community

Macquarie 50th Anniversary Award

Supporting the communities in which we live and work has been an important part of Macquarie’s activities since our inception in 1969. In that time, our people have devoted thousands of hours to work with non-profit organisations around the world and together with the Foundation have contributed more than $A520 million1 to drive social change at the local community level. Established in 2018, our 50th Anniversary Award extends this tradition with a further $A50 million commitment.

Our finalists and semi-finalists

Congratulations to our finalists and semi-finalists, who are creating better outcomes for communities around the world.

Award objectives

  • to build on an eligible organisation’s ability to address an area of social need
  • to encourage eligible organisations to be bold in their thinking about how to address social needs
  • to support excellence in the implementation of these bold ideas
  • to publicly promote the selected organisations’ work and inspire continuing best practice within the social sector.

The judging process

  • From close to 1,000 applications received, a rigorous multi-stage judging process was conducted to select 60 semi-finalists then 12 finalists, based on the Award objectives.
  • All applications were assessed by members of the Macquarie Group Foundation team, in-depth due diligence was conducted by external consultants on the semi-finalists, and regional judging panels were conducted.
  • Finalist organisations participated in site visits conducted by the Macquarie Group Foundation team, who prepared reports for Macquarie Group Foundation Committee members. The Committee reviewed and assessed the 12 finalists to select the five Award winners.
