Macquarie Group launches prize for organisations building climate resilience solutions in Brazil

São Paulo, Brazil, 04 November 2025

  • The Macquarie Community Resilience Prize, powered by MIT Solve, will award up to a total of $US500,000 to innovative solutions focused on climate resilience and skill-building in Brazil.

Macquarie Group and MIT Solve today announced the Macquarie Community Resilience Prize - a Prize which seeks innovative solutions that build climate-resilient communities while creating meaningful employment and skill-building opportunities.

The Prize, which will begin taking applications on November 25, will award up to a total of $US500,000 to up to five solutions headquartered or actively deployed in Brazil that address the growing impacts of climate change while training and employing workers to protect and future-proof their communities.

Funded by Macquarie Group, the Prize is a partnership with MIT Solve, an initiative of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The Prize welcomes technology-enabled solutions that support sectors such as energy and grid resilience, water resource management, agriculture and food systems, infrastructure protection, disaster preparedness and avoidance and other areas that promote community resilience.

Applications will be judged through a lens of climate resilience, workforce training and employment, innovation and potential for impact. Winning solutions will receive funding, along with a dedicated support program including access to workshops, coaching, in-kind resources and mentorship by Macquarie employees. Online applications will be open on MIT Solve’s website from November 25, 2025 to February 25, 2026.

“Macquarie has been active in Brazil for over 25 years, working alongside local partners to drive innovation and sustainable growth. The program was announced in the lead-up to the 30th Conference of Parties (COP) UN climate conference, which will be held in Belém, Brazil, from November 10–21, 2025. Winners of the Macquarie Community Resilience Prize will be announced in May 2026.
