The Macquarie Group Collection has been supporting emerging Australian artists for over 30 years by acquiring and displaying their works in Macquarie offices around the world. Part of the Macquarie Group Foundation, the Collection features art in all media, around the theme The Land and its Psyche, reflecting the diversity of the Australian landscape as seen through the eyes of its artists.
Now comprising more than 850 works selected by a volunteer committee of Macquarie Group staff and a curatorial expert, the Collection is on display in around 40 Macquarie offices worldwide.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land and we pay our respect to Australia’s First Nations elders past, present and emerging.
To celebrate 30 years of Macquarie’s art collection, Macquarie Group Collection Director Helen Burton and Deputy Director and Director of Collections of AGNSW Maud Page, discuss the evolution of Australian art and the modern day gallery experience.
Published in 2012 to commemorate the first 25 years of the Collection, The Macquarie Group Collection – The Land and Its Psyche features a brief history and 100 works from the Collection. Macquarie’s art collection has since been featured in two international publications about global corporate art collections.
Macquarie’s gallery in Sydney, Space, is temporarily closed due to restrictions relating to COVID-19. Please check back in the coming months to see new opening hours.
