Macquarie Capital appoints Raj Khatri Senior Managing Director, Head of European Metals and Mining

London - Macquarie Capital today announced the appointment of Raj Khatri as Senior Managing Director and Head of Metals and Mining coverage in Europe.

With more than 15 years investment banking experience, Raj joins Macquarie Capital from Royal Bank of Scotland where he was a Managing Director and Head of Metals and Mining EMEA. Prior to this, Raj worked for more than a decade at Morgan Stanley, undertaking roles including Head of Natural Resources, South East Asia and India, based in Singapore, and also as an Executive Director in the Metals and Mining team in London. During his career, Mr Khatri has been involved with significant transactions in the metals and mining sector including BHP’s $40bn bid for PotashCorp, as key relationship manager for ArcelorMittal on various transactions for including Arcelor’s defence against Mittal Steel and numerous equity and debt capital market transactions including Russian IPOs of Evraz and MMK.

Mr Khatri joins Macquarie following the appointment of Jeff Largey to lead EMEA Metals and Mining research from London, aligned with Macquarie’s global commodities research team, demonstrating the continued development of Macquarie’s presence within the resources sector.

Mr Khatri is the latest in a series of senior hires to Macquarie Capital in Europe. Allan Bertie joins Macquarie today from GCA Savvian as Senior Managing Director. Recently, Roland Shmidt joined from Lazard in Germany as a Managing Director; Simon Wilde joined from the Royal Bank of Scotland as Head of European Power and Utilities; Michael Tarrant joined from Rothschild to be Head of Industrials, Marc Middleton from the UK Shareholder Executive to be Vice Chairman and Rainer Langel from Lazard to be Head of Germany. Mr Khatri’s appointment is effective from 14 November 2011.
