Community spirit in Mexico City - un resultado magnifico!
Mexico City, 01 July 2014
What started out as a drive to provide school supplies for six local orphans organised by staff in Macquarie Mexico City’s office, exceeded all targets recently, when enough money was raised to sponsor all the children living at the orphanage.
Members of one of Macquarie’s newest community charity committees set a goal to fund six children’s school supply needs for the upcoming school year. An overwhelming response to their call for funds meant they raised $MXN 216,000 ($US16,000) - sufficient to support all 40 residents at the Fundacion Hogar Dulce Hogar (‘Home Sweet Home), an orphanage near the office.
Over the coming year the committee, comprising 13 employees, has also chosen to support Misión México: a refuge for neglected and abused children run by an Australian couple in Chiapas, and VAMOS, an organization that works directly with the poor in Morelos.
Macquarie’s Infrastructure and Real Asset’s Paul Brogan said: “The enthusiasm and overall support from the entire Mexico team and their families for our charitable initiatives has been truly incredible.”
