Opportunity
Renewable energy generators rely upon advanced asset optimisation and risk management solutions to enhance operational efficiency and meet grid requirements. In the UK and Ireland, where clean energy targets are accelerating the buildout of wind and solar,1,2 demand for smart asset optimisation strategies is expected to increase.
Founded in 2015, Erova Energy Group’s (Erova) technology-backed asset optimisation platform provides tailored route-to-market solutions to a growing portfolio of wind, solar, waste-to-energy, and battery storage assets across the UK and Ireland.
By offering four key services – power purchase agreements (PPAs), route-to-market, balancing services and energy supply logistics – Erova simplifies operations and reduces complexity for its customers. This comprehensive approach delivers a competitive edge in a fast-growing market.
After a decade of growth, Erova sought enhanced credit support and stronger market access to provide larger, long-term PPAs and expand into new geographies.
Approach
In 2025, Macquarie acquired 100 per cent of Erova.
The acquisition brings together Erova’s advanced trading technology and long-term customer relationships with Macquarie's Commodities and Global Markets business’ two decades of global experience across energy, renewables, and emissions markets.
Outcome
The acquisition will enable Erova to scale its platform and deliver greater value for its customers by combining its advanced trading capabilities with Macquarie’s global reach, financial strength and deep expertise in risk management.
By integrating Erova to Macquarie’s global energy network – spanning renewable assets, advisory services, and energy and emissions trading – the business is positioned to expand its renewable portfolio in the UK and Ireland while exploring new opportunities across Europe.
Macquarie’s credit support enables Erova to broaden its services to a wider client base, with the ability to participate in larger PPA tenders and secure fixed-price contracts.
The acquisition strengthens Macquarie’s capabilities in providing risk management solutions to renewable energy users.
