Opportunity

Our client had made the decision to close one of its fabs in San Jose, California and put the facility on the market for sale, for both equipment and real estate. The key objective for our client was to sell all assets in a 90 day time frame in order to drastically minimise their ongoing liability.


Approach

Macquarie worked with a real estate partner to provide our client with a single sale solution purchasing the entire 197 tool set, while our real estate partner acquired the building and land. As part of the transaction Macquarie also took on the full de-installation of the equipment including de-contamination, leaving the building ready for retrofit by the real estate partner without any further involvement by the client.

Outcome

Our client was able to sell their entire tool set as well as the building and land within the 90 day timeframe and drastically minimised their ongoing liability. Macquarie managed the entire project on our client’s behalf, including the city closure plan and extraction process.
