Monique Bishop

"I started at Macquarie as a Summer Intern in the wealth management team while completing a Bachelor of Business and Law at UTS. I applied for the Banking and Financial Services group because I was a banking customer with Macquarie and was impressed by the banking app – I thought it was innovative and ahead of the game."

After completing my summer internship, I accepted a Graduate position, working with the wealth management chief operating officer team. I have been involved in a variety of projects working with a wide range of teams around the Banking and Financial Services group which has allowed me to build a broad network throughout the business.

“Macquarie is very supportive of community and extra-curricular involvement. I volunteer each week with Raise as a mentor with the aim of positively impacting the wellbeing and engagement of young people. I was also involved in the Graduate Volunteer Network where we organised the Macquarie City2Surf team which was a particular highlight and an experience I found extremely rewarding. We were given complete responsibility for organising this event, which meant we were able to raise money for a charity important to us. It is this openness to a variety of opportunities that I believe is unique to Macquarie and is one of the reasons I am motivated to work here.

“The seemingly endless learning and development opportunities available at Macquarie have enabled me to progress and evolve my skills beyond my day to day role. This includes the Graduate Development Program, which is a structured learning program throughout your first Graduate year.

“In my second year I am excited to participate in a four month Sales 101 program which includes face-to-face workshops and tangible experience. The program focuses on building positive and resilient responses to challenges, preparing for customer meetings and negotiation skills.

“I am excited for my future at Macquarie due to the diversity of opportunities that are available and am enthusiastic to continue to work with the dynamic, hard-working people around me.”

"I joined Macquarie as a Summer Intern and then re-joined the team as a Banking and Financial Services Graduate upon completing my studies. Prior to joining Macquarie, I completed a BSc in Mathematics and a Master of Applied Finance."

“I am now an Analyst in our wealth analytics team, where I have been involved in transforming our private wealth business while also exploring the opportunities to improve our client experience through the world of data science.

“My team has given me responsibility and ownership of key projects within a few months of commencing, which has been a steep learning curve that has been extremely beneficial for my professional development.

“Through the Macquarie Group Foundation, I was part of a team that brought rescue dogs into the office, raising money for the RSPCA. I have also participated in various sporting events and volunteered for a local food van. Macquarie provides the support and time to pursue these opportunities, something I am very grateful for.”

Simran Dhillon

"I started at Macquarie as a business banking Summer Intern in 2017 and continued part-time during my last year of university. After graduating with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from UNSW, I commenced as a Graduate."

“My journey at Macquarie so far has been full of different experiences.

“While on my internship, I had the opportunity to work on deals across a variety of industries including real estate, strata, legal, financial planning, accounting and insurance broking. This opportunity enhanced my industry knowledge and allowed me to develop a strong platform to be an analyst within business banking.

“The Graduate Program at Macquarie has given me the opportunity to build on the skills I gained as an Intern by rotating through four different teams across the Banking and Financial Services group over two years.

“My first rotation was as a client and risk analyst in business banking where I worked on several new projects, attended client meetings and conferences, and took on complex transactions. I am now in my second rotation in personal banking as a credit analyst where I have enhanced my credit skillset and developed a deeper understanding of the personal banking space at Macquarie.

“In 2020, I will have my third rotation in Banking and Financial Services funding and then, my fourth rotation in wealth management. This two-year invaluable experience will give me a deeper understanding of the different functions and areas of the Banking and Financial Services group.

“I am also an active member of the Graduate Volunteer Network where I have been involved in organising several fundraising initiatives throughout the year. I am currently involved in creating and distributing Macquarie’s Healthy Minds Notebook where all proceeds will help support our chosen charity, batyr. Our fundraising goal for this initiative is $A50,000.”
