Enhancing your SMA experience

Platform updates

24 Jun 2019

We’re continuing to make significant investment into our SMA offering to better support you with implementing SMA strategies for your clients.

Keep reading to learn about the updates we’ve launched recently, as part of our commitment to enhance your experience with SMAs on our platform.

What’s new?

Your super and pension clients will now be able to move faster with SMA switches

You’ll have a more complete view with our enhanced Portfolio Review Report (PRR)

You can better tailor your client’s SMA by accommodating for unique personal preferences with SMA customisations.

Move faster with SMA switches

Your super and pension clients will also have greater investment flexibility with the SMA switch functionality. Previously only available to IDPS clients, we’ve made it available for your super and pension clients, too.

With SMA switches, you’ll no longer need to sell down all underlying assets from your clients’ existing SMA to fund the purchase of a new SMA. This means your clients remain invested in the market and can move to the new SMA faster than before.

Additionally, no CGT event is triggered if securities are retained as part of the selected SMA portfolio.

Who may benefit from SMA switches?

SMA switches are particularly useful for clients who want to:

  • fund their SMA with existing holdings and cash
  • close their SMA model without selling down the underlying holdings, or
  • switch to a new model manager.

How do I complete an SMA switch?

Simply download and complete the SMA Transfer form from the adviser portal and send it to us to initiate the transfer.

Enhanced Portfolio Review Report (PPR) for a more complete view

We’ve enhanced the Portfolio Review Report on Wrap Online to show the security performance for the SMA listed in the report.

We’ve also updated the report to include the pending settlements of the underlying assets of the SMA. This means the Opening and Closing Market Values will now be consistent across different sections of the report.

More investment flexibility with SMA customisations

A ‘do not hold’ feature is now available, enabling clients to personalise their selections within an SMA. When this is applied, it prevents the purchase of particular securities and will automatically sell down any existing holdings in the selected security.
