Macquarie strengthens European ECM team with appointment of Klaus Schinkel in Germany

17 September 2012

Frankfurt - Macquarie announced today the appointment of Klaus Schinkel as Head of the Equity Capital Markets (ECM) business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Based in Macquarie’s Frankfurt office from 1 October 2012, Mr Schinkel’s appointment reflects the continued development of Macquarie’s European ECM practice.

Mr Schinkel has more than 20 years’ global capital markets and corporate finance experience. He joins Macquarie from the Royal Bank of Scotland where he worked as Managing Director responsible for the firm's ECM business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Prior to that, he spent eight years in ECM at Morgan Stanley in London, Hong Kong and Frankfurt. Mr Schinkel previously worked in the equity capital markets and structured products business at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson in London and Frankfurt, assisting numerous German clients on capital market transactions.

“With his long-standing experience in capital markets and credibility in the German market, Klaus is a fantastic addition to Macquarie’s European ECM team. His appointment builds on the continued expansion of Macquarie’s German investment banking platform and broadens the senior ECM leadership team across the region,” said Antony Isaacs, Head of ECM for Macquarie in Europe.

Macquarie’s ECM team has been involved in a number of recent successful transactions in Germany including the dual track process for WMF, participating in the IPOs of Norma Group and Prime Office and acting as sole book runner for the IPO of the Chinese company Powerland on the Prime Standard of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
