Who needs Masterchef when you're cooking for a cause

For Amy Fleming, from Macquarie’s Corporate and Asset Finance in Melbourne, her recent stint cooking with a chef in a commercial kitchen was motivated by the fact that the meals she would be helping to prepare were destined for people in need.

An unexpected additional benefit of the OzHarvest fundraiser was that in being professionally guided through a variety of dishes, Amy also learned recipes she could apply at home.

As part of a 15-strong team, Amy described the event as “an unforgettable experience with an immediate, tangible social impact”. Her colleague Kate Loong, agreed, saying it was a great way of promoting team work and enhanced her cooking skills as well. “At the end, I also found myself being more aware of the environment, from disposing of food waste by composting, and that a little hand goes a long way.”

The Macquarie Group Foundation is a founding partner of OzHarvest and has provided ongoing support to the food rescue organisation since its inception in 2004.
