Jawun forms partnerships to benefit corporate, government and Indigenous Australia, and together they improve the lives of Indigenous people around Australia by supporting Indigenous communities on the ground. Macquarie Group’s partnership with Jawun commenced in 2014 and since then around ten Macquarie secondees have shared their expertise with Indigenous organisations and local community leaders in Cape York and the East Kimberley region. The Macquarie Group Foundation has also provided Jawun with a three-year grant to fund their Regional Director role in East Kimberley.

The partnership between Macquarie Group Foundation and Streetwise Opera began in 2008, leading to Macquarie becoming Streetwise’s principal corporate supporter. Macquarie’s support has enabled Streetwise to transform its position as an arts organisation, raising its profile, increasing audience reach, generating better opportunities for its homeless participants and creating innovative opera productions across England.

Located north of Darwin, the Tiwi Islands has been supported by the Hayden Reynolds Tiwi Project since 2010. Macquarie is a principal funder of the project, which has raised more than $A2 million for education and training facilities. Macquarie Sports has also hosted sporting clinics on the islands, providing equipment, coaching and sporting role models to help inspire and motivate local youth.

Set up in 2012, The Big Alliance has been instrumental in setting up volunteering programs and mentoring initiatives that are helping to tackle unemployment and child poverty in the borough of Islington in London. The Macquarie Group Foundation provided a two-year partnership agreement with the Cripplegate Foundation in 2012 to establish the alliance and a further three-year grant to continue its work in 2014.

Since 2008, Macquarie’s New York City employees have offered a four month mentoring program that includes a month-long, paid summer internship at Macquarie, to local high school students who will be the first in their families to attend college. Offered in conjunction with Columbia University's Double Discovery Center, the LEADS program engages 100 staff annually as mentors, presenters and volunteers. The program helps to develop students’ college readiness, skills and career development.

Milk Crate Theatre’s Community Show Program is Australia’s only ongoing program of theatrical works devised by the homeless community for the homeless community. With a focus on creativity, the theatre company also has strong partnerships with a range of welfare organisations and won Macquarie’s 2012 Australian Social Innovation Award for its proposal to increase its accessibility and engagement with wider audiences.
