Empowerment

Macquarie First South is a Black Empowered Company as defined by the Financial Services Charter. Black Economic Empowerment is defined in the Financial Services Charter as a mechanism aimed at addressing inequalities and mobilising the energy of all South Africans. Macquarie First South has a broad-based strategy that identifies the following four key areas which need to be addressed in its efforts to contribute toward black economic empowerment in South Africa:

  • employment equity
  • skills development (education)
  • procurement
  • corporate social programs.

The First South Financial Services Group has made significant strides in each of these areas and we believe that Macquarie First South’s continuing efforts will help contribute towards the sustained economic growth, development and social transformation in South Africa.
