Agricultural commodities

Macquarie is a leading international provider of price risk management solutions for producers, consumers, trade participants and investors in the agricultural commodities sector.

Headquartered in New York, Macquarie's agricultural commodities operations in the Americas also include operations in Los Angeles and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Specific soft commodities covered by the Macquarie Group in the Americas include coffee, cocoa, feedgrains, sugar and oilseeds.

Renewable fuels

Macquarie offers a wide variety of services to clients in the renewable fuels market. Through our joint venture company Lansing Ethanol Services, Macquarie is involved in the trading of physical ethanol as well as price risk management services. Lansing Ethanol Services offers clients a Net Commodity Margin Guarantee contract in which it is able to offer a physical fixed margin by supplying both the inputs and outputs for an ethanol plant. This effectively removes the large majority of price risk on the facility.

Macquarie is also able to offer finance solutions throughout the capital structure for clients in the ethanol, biodiesel, and other renewable energy sources.

Commodity financing

Macquarie offers tailored pre-export, structured finance and working capital facilities secured by physical commodities, inventories, forward contracts and receivables. Facilities are offered across all commodity sectors in which Macquarie has expertise including energy, agriculture, and metals. Many of these transactions take advantage of Macquarie's risk management solutions offering the client a complete package of financing and price protection.

Investor products

Macquarie's Investor Products business services the growing demand for commodity-based investment products. The business creates structured solutions for a broad range of investors including high net worth individuals, corporate and institutional clients.

Commodity solutions are offered in the form of over-the-counter derivative options or structured notes over underlyings that include commodity indices, sub-indices and/or tailored baskets of individual commodities. The group is also creating broader hybrid investment solutions across of myriad of asset classes, which include commodities, currencies, interest rates, equities and funds.

Energy markets

Macquarie's involvement in providing risk management solutions in energy extends over a decade. The Energy Markets Division plays an active risk management role across the energy sector from production, transportation and refining to storage, utilities and end consumers. Energy Markets has expertise in financing and trading for clients spread throughout North America, Australia, Asia, Europe and Africa.

Through Macquarie Bank Limited's Representative Offices in New York, Houston and Los Angeles and Macquarie's presence in London and Sydney, Macquarie Energy Markets provides clients globally with over-the-counter and structured financing facilities.
