Title: Senior Associate My original interest in Macquarie stemmed from their strong principal presence in the real estate space coupled with the build-out of the investment banking capabilities. This combined skill set in Macquarie provides unique opportunities in the market and allows us to be more creative with our clients. The Macquarie culture is very open and collaborative. The open floor plan promotes continued interaction both within individual groups and across other teams to provide total capabilities to our clients. It is very much a “work hard, play hard” culture where everyone is focused on executing transactions and taking time to enjoy working together. From ongoing ping pong challenges to happy hour Fridays, Macquarie is a very lively place to work. One of the things that I really like about working at Macquarie is that the organization in the US is relatively flat. As a junior person who is developing their career, this means your role in a deal team isn’t limited by your title. Once you’ve demonstrated you have the capabilities and have built the trust of your team, there are ample opportunities to increase your level of responsibility. For example, recently I was given the opportunity to play a central role in the execution of a $4 billion+ transaction for a $30 billion REIT in the US.
