Information Technology GroupThe Information Technology Group (ITG) is responsible for the management of Macquarie’s global technology infrastructure, the support and development of existing business systems, and the delivery and deployment of new systems, technologies and services. Each major business in Macquarie has a co-located IT team dedicated to understanding its particular technology needs. ITG culture is characterised by business alignment, client commitment, innovation and teamwork. Our strategic vision is “Delivering technology integral to Macquarie’s success” and we recognise that this can only be achieved by providing our staff with opportunities to develop professionally, both through challenging work and structured learning. There are two distinct but overlapping teams within ITG:
Our Account Teams utilise a variety of languages, tools and technologies to customise and support front, middle and back office systems. These include Java, J2EE, C# and ASP .NET, C++, Excel/VBA, WebMethods, MQ Series, SQL Server, Sybase and FIX, as well as a number of vendor packages and live market data feeds. In addition, the teams leverage a number of open source frameworks including Eclipse, Hibernate, Tomcat, Apache, Liferay and JBoss. ITS is responsible for delivering a robust, scalable, infrastructure environment that supports a complex range of global business activities. ITS is committed to providing operational excellence, 24x7 availability, architecture and design, technical project delivery, systems integration and technical innovation across a broad range of technical platforms that include Voice and Data Networks, Storage, Windows, Unix and databases. What might I be doing as a Graduate within ITG?ITG offer opportunities in a broad range of roles such as software developers, test analysts, business analysts, dealing room specialists, operations support specialists, database administrators and engineering services technologists. The innovative use of technology underpins Macquarie’s success. Our strategic technology platform is integral to the development of our global business. As an IT professional at Macquarie you will progress your career in an environment that encourages and rewards your creativity and initiative. What might I be doing as an Intern within ITG?ITG is committed to providing a challenging and technically diverse Summer Vacation Program which runs for 10 weeks from end of May to mid August. You will be exposed to a dynamic working environment and will join one of the two types of teams in ITG, either an Account Management or Infrastructure team. Account Management teams are co-located with the major business groups and consult to develop, maintain and enhance mission critical systems. Using comprehensive business analysis these teams deliver quality IT solutions for the business groups and their clients. Infrastructure Technology Services teams are responsible for the management and delivery of Macquarie's technology infrastructure across the business groups and manage highly sophisticated global networks as well as providing remote support to users worldwide. Working with a range of technologies on a variety of business requirements will give summer students the opportunity to practically apply the skills you are developing at university. In addition to providing you with technical skills and experience, the ITG Summer Vacation Program provides you with opportunities to develop your interpersonal skills through networking with current employees at induction and various social events. |
