Graduate Questions
Who is eligible to apply to Macquarie’s graduate recruitment programme?
Typically we look for students in their final year of study who are looking to commence employment upon graduation. We will however consider candidates who have already graduated, providing they are happy to commence the following September and plan on spending their gap year in a productive manner. We will not consider candidates who are already on a graduate programme with another organisation.
How do I apply for a 2010 graduate position?
Go to ‘Search Jobs’ found on the right hand side of this page and enter job number 568857. Alternatively you can search for opportunities by selecting Graduate and Undergraduates under work type.
Once you have found the role that you are looking for you will be asked to complete an online application form and attach a covering letter, up-to-date resume and academic transcripts. The whole process should take no more than one hour.
What is the selection process for graduate applications?

How many graduate positions are available and in which Groups are these positions available?
The specific number of roles available varies across each of our business groups and can be subject to change based on shifting business and market requirements and the quality of the applications received.
Where are graduate positions available?
The majority of our positions are in London, however we do also have opportunities in Bristol, Leeds, Paris and Frankfurt. Macquarie also has graduate opportunities in South Africa, the UAE, Asia, Australasia and the United States; further information can be found on our website by selecting the appropriate location.
Does Macquarie offer a graduate rotation programme?
Macquarie does not offer a rotational programme, instead we work hard to ensure you are placed in the right role from day one. Throughout the recruitment process we will discuss your interests and motivations, and using this information, combined with your skills and experience we will match you to the appropriate position. Once you have been with Macquarie for a period of time, typically 2 years, you may have the opportunity to move teams, division, groups or even locations.

What University degree should I be studying to obtain a graduate position?
Macquarie recruits graduates from a variety of disciplines for a broad range of roles. Some business groups may have specific requirements but mostly we look for graduates who possess the type of attributes that are required to succeed within our culture.
What grades do I need to have?
Macquarie looks for students with a strong academic background. Whilst we don’t require a certain number of UCAS points we do look for graduates who are in line to obtain a 2:1 at undergraduate level.
Are overseas students eligible for the graduate recruitment program?
Where possible Macquarie will offer graduates the support that they require to obtain the relevant work permit. Please ensure you note what support you would require on your application.
Does Macquarie target MBA students?
MBA students are welcome to apply to our graduate recruitment programme or any other vacancies relevant to their experience and skills. Currently in Europe Macquarie does not hold a separate MBA recruitment programme.
Can I submit my application directly with a recruiter?
Applications must be made online and not sent directly to a recruiter. Once received we will contact you either by email or telephone to provide you with updates regarding the status of your application. Please note the closing date for graduate applications is 5.00pm on November 11th, 2009, applications will not be accepted beyond this date.
If I secure a graduate position, when would I start?
New graduates commence in September of each year. In some instances we will consider earlier start dates.

Intern Questions
Who is eligible to apply to Macquarie’s summer internship recruitment programme?
Typically we will only consider students in their penultimate year of study. At times, we may consider candidates who have already graduated, who are planning to travel or continue their studies. We will not consider candidates for a summer internship who have already secured a graduate role at another organisation.

All intern opportunities are in London.
What does an intern do?
Interns will attend a one week orientation programme which will equip them with all of the information that they require for their placement with Macquarie. Typically each placement will last for approximately 10 weeks and interns will be given the opportunity to work on day to day tasks as well a projects.
What University degree do I need to be studying?
Macquarie recruits graduates from a variety of disciplines from a wide range of Universities.

Your performance will be assessed throughout your internship and graduate offers will be made to those who demonstrate the ability to build a successful career with Macquarie.
