Macquarie Group has appointed Mr Andrew Hunter as head of its European operations, effective 1 May 2008. Mr Hunter will oversee the Group’s presence in Europe comprising 1000 staff providing a diverse range of financial, advisory and investment services from offices in London, Dublin, Frankfurt, Geneva, Milan, Munich, Paris, Rome, Vienna and Zurich.
Mr Hunter, an Executive Director of Macquarie Group, has also been appointed head of Macquarie Capital Advisers in Europe, which comprises advisory and specialist funds activities. Macquarie is a leader in infrastructure and specialised funds management, with €36 billion of equity invested in a global portfolio of over 100 assets.
Mr Hunter joined Macquarie in 1999. He moved to London in 2003 to head Macquarie’s European advisory business, with responsibility for advising on significant acquisitions and other transactions for Macquarie-managed funds and third party clients.
Mr Hunter replaces Mr Jim Craig, who will return to Australia to take up a senior position within the Macquarie Group. Under Mr Craig’s leadership over the past five years, Macquarie’s European business has achieved outstanding success with significant growth in all areas of the business.
