Macquarie Group Foundation

One of the beliefs around which the Macquarie Group formed its philosophy was that, as a company is a member of the society in which it operates it follows that one of its duties is to work in different ways for the betterment of that society. This thought drove Macquarie's early community support programmes, which were formalised in 1984 when the Macquarie Group Foundation was established.

Over this time, Macquarie has supported many hundreds of organisations working to support and improve the communities in which we live and work. The Macquarie Group Foundation supports more than 500 community organisations worldwide through grant-making, fundraising, workplace giving and volunteering.

Our focus

The Foundation funds a diversity of community needs in the areas of health, education, the arts, welfare and the environment.

We look for opportunities that are innovative and that are genuinely responsive to the community's needs. We focus on long-term partnerships with not-for-profit organisations providing advice, skills and resources necessary to develop their services.

Staff In The Community

The Foundation actively supports Macquarie staff pursuing their own community interests and passions through a range of policies, advice and resources.

Staff Donation Support

The Macquarie Group Foundation provides matching donations under our staff donation support policy. All Macquarie staff are eligible to apply to the Foundation for a matching grant for personal donations and fundraising made to not-for-profit organisations. Applications for staff donation support must meet the criteria for funding by the Macquarie Group Foundation.

Staff Participation Support

Many Macquarie staff work for not-for-profit organisations in an executive capacity, serving as board members, providing strategic advice or taking on a management role. In recognition of their service, the Foundation makes a one-off grant to the community organisations they serve in this manner.

Macquarie Board Register and executive level support

The Macquarie Group Foundation has developed a Board Register of senior executives who are prepared to serve on not-for-profit boards. The Register enables the Foundation to nominate a range of candidates when it receives requests from community organisations to fill board vacancies. In this way, the Foundation is working to ensure the not-for-profit sector has access to executives with proven management experience.

Community Advisory Committees

Community Advisory Committees meet regularly to hear about the Foundation’s latest programs, receive briefings from not-for-profit organisations and provide feedback on the Foundation’s community role.

Long Service Grants

Each year, more than 100 Macquarie staff reach milestones of 10 years or 25 years service with Macquarie. In recognition of their long service, the Foundation makes a donation to the community organisation of their choice.
